Plant a Legacy

Breathe life back into your landscape.

When you plant a forest, you create thriving, culturally-significant ecosystems.

We help Indigenous communities, municipalities, conservation groups, Canadian businesses and post-secondary institutions transform their land into vibrant natural spaces that support the communities and wildlife that depend on them.

More than one million trees planted

Through the support of our partners, we have planted more than a million trees across Canada.

No cost

For many of our land partners, rewilding your land is completed at no cost to you. We cover seedling procurement and planting costs and many other costs are covered by our community investment partners.

Increase biodiversity

We plant species-rich forests. To date, we have planted more than 40 different species in our forests.

Transparent sustainability reporting

We will share annual project reports and survey data with you as your forest grows.

Your land is in good hands with Project Forest.

At Project Forest, we know it’s not how many seedlings you plant, it’s how many thrive. A forest is more than a single tree, and a movement is more than a single person. Project Forest brings the whole village together to enrich, fund, and unite lasting ecosystems of support.

It Starts With You

Transform your land into a vibrant natural space that supports the local communities and wildlife that depend on them.

Let's Talk
Rosalyn Goodswimmer

Councillor, Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation

“We’ve lost a lot of our medicines and a lot of our plants and a lot of the trees that we are so used to having. In 20 years from now, our great-grandchildren will be able to pick again. It’s going to be bigger than just trees — that’s giving our life back.”

Dave Ealey

President, Wagner Natural Area Society

“Embarking on a Rewilding Journey with Project Forest has been both transformative and challenging for the Wagner Natural Area Society. While our agriculturally disturbed landscapes begin to transform to a dominant forest landscape, our Society has already transformed by gaining a new focus. And the challenges help us acquire skills and learn how to share this budding purpose with a wider community.”

Dan Sturgess

Biologist, Alberta Conservation Association (ACA)

“It is a pleasure working with the team at Project Forest. Their re-wilding vision is precisely aligned with Alberta Conservation Association’s restoration goals on Camp Creek and other Conservation Sites. Their thoughtful planning, attention to detail, and collaborative strengths will benefit Albertans and wildlife for generations to come. ACA looks forward to continued successes with Project Forest on our Conservation Sites!”

Chief Rene Chaboye

Cumberland House Cree Nation

“The Project Forest Cumberland House Cree Nation Food and Medicine Forest signifies our community’s commitment to restoring and preserving our cultural heritage. By reintroducing these food-bearing and medicinally significant plants and trees, we ensure the well-being of our community and future generations.”

Delaney Schlemko

Natural Area Manager at The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC)

“Restoration projects are no small feat and it takes a village to raise a seedling. The vision and support of Project Forest is helping to re-establish mixedwood forests in the heart of the Beaver Hills Biosphere, to the benefit of songbirds, pollinators, ungulates, carnivores and people.”

The Ma ma tâ wan sakâw Healing Forest was planted in Fall 2025, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the City of Wetaskiwin’s journey toward reconciliation.

Situated on 3.3 hectares beside By The Lake Park, this former construction landfill site is being transformed into a healing forest that will serve as a place where residents of both Wetaskiwin and Maskwacis can connect with culturally significant plants, nature, and each other.

“Reclaiming the land around the school grounds gives the children even more learning opportunities. As the trees grow the children will also grow.”

Faron Bull

Councillor at Paul First Nation
