Sequestration

Terrestrial removal of atmospheric carbon dioxide through the biological processes of plants and trees.

Selection Harvest

A method of harvesting used in uneven-aged stands; selected trees are harvested leaving re­sidual trees with more space to increase their growth, also used to promote the regeneration of trees.

Seed Zone

A well-delineated contiguous piece of land that represents the origin of the seed.

Seedling

A plant or tree grown from a seed.

Sapling

A young tree no longer a seedling but not yet a pole.
